Sarah Van Alsten, MPH

Researcher

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

I am a PhD student in Epidemiology at UNC Chapel Hill with a background in neuroscience and genetics. I have experience in both psychiatric and chronic disease epidemiology, and am currently researching how adiposity influences the immune microenvironment of breast cancer. I'm also interested in the application of machine learning and big data to epidemiologic problems, as well as the development of new causal inference methods for big data. When I'm not in the lab or fiddling around in R, you can find me playing Settlers of Catan, running, cycling, or perfecting the art of latte making. Thanks for stopping by!
